The post sits within the Public Health Knowledge & Intelligence (K&I) Team and reports to the K&I Senior Public Health Specialist.  The successful applicant will support the work of the public health team and work with key partners including other Council departments, the Integrated Care Board (ICB), Cheshire and Merseyside Public Health Collaborative (CHaMPS), and other local public health teams.

The role

The post-holder will support a range of projects across all aspects of public health. This will include in-depth needs assessments, such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) and Annual Public Health Report. They will respond to routine and ad hoc information requests, and be responsible for benchmarking and performance monitoring across a range of public health indicators and services.  

What's needed?

The ideal candidate should be educated to degree level, or have an equivalent qualification or experience, demonstrating that level of applied knowledge in researching, analysing and evaluating health and socio-economic information. They must be skilled in interrogating large datasets, using appropriate statistical techniques to produce meaningful intelligence. They should be able to present their findings in a user-friendly manner and be highly computer literate, particularly with spreadsheets and databases using excellent analytical and research skills, and the ability to draft reports and briefings.  Prior experience of using GIS, for example Mapinfo, and Power BI would be advantageous.
