Youth Justice Services, incorporating Cheshire East, Cheshire West, Halton and Warrington are looking for two Youth Offending Team Officers to help it maintain and improve upon its high standards.
You will manage a case load of young people who have offended, completing their assessments, writing reports and undertaking interventions to address their offending behaviour. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for the public and the young person themselves. You will also take your place on the duty rota, as required which may involve attending at court to support young people and to report to the court.
Experience of working with young people who are difficult to engage with is essential as is the knowledge and understanding of the factors that put young people at risk of offending, including the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Alongside this a good knowledge of the Youth Justice System is desirable.
Risk management, public safety and safeguarding are fundamental to our work and candidates need to be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of these requirements as they are integral to the post being offered.
You should have the enthusiasm and dedication to work towards provision of high quality assessments and interventions for young people and the ability to multi- task in a rapidly changing and ever demanding environment.
You must have the ability to effectively work alongside partner agencies, and to engage parents/carers and young people, alongside excellent communication skills and IT skills.
A qualification in either social work, probation (equivalent qualification) or a Professional Certificate In Effective Practice combined with a relevant degree is an essential criteria for this position.
