Former Mayor’s record-breaking charity boost
The former Mayor of Warrington is boosting the coffers of local charities to the tune of almost £60,000
Faisal Rashid MP – who was Mayor from May 2016 until March 2017 – is officially distributing funds to his chosen charities at Warrington Town Hall.
The former Mayor’s record-breaking charity haul was achieved through a range of successful fundraising events throughout his term of office, including his charity ball, a multi-cultural evening, and the Warrington’s Got Talent competition.
Representatives of his chosen charities will arrive at the Town Hall on Monday 4 September at 1pm to meet the former Mayor and receive their cheques.
Mr Rashid said: “I had an incredibly successful fundraising year, and it’s all thanks to the generosity shown by the people of Warrington, as well as local businesses - who worked closely with me through The Circle initiative. Their support will really benefit these fantastic charities who are working so hard to change people’s lives.
“It was always my ambition to raise as much money as possible, and I’m delighted that through a range of fundraising initiatives – including some brand new Mayoral events – we were able to achieve so much. I’m really looking forward to meeting representatives of my chosen charities to officially present their cheques.”
