Together for Adoption is a regional agency that integrates five local authorities – Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan. Our work involves:

• Finding families for children who need to be placed for adoption.
• Supporting children and families before, during and after adoption.
• Recruiting and assessing adults to be adopters for our children.
• Support for adopted adults and birth parents.

We've joined together to make it easier for adopters and children to find their forever families.

Working regionally helps us to recruit new families more effectively. It allows us to share best practice and make our services even better, which means we can offer you the support you need, whatever stage you're at on your adoption journey.

What area do we cover?

We're based in Warrington. This is where your adoption panel will take place if you continue your adoption journey with us.

We also welcome enquiries from outside of the region. Our team are flexible and can consider travel beyond the boundaries to complete your adoption assessment

What is adoption?

Adoption is a way of providing the security, love and permanence of a new family for children who can no longer be cared for by their birth families.

It's a legal procedure in which all parental rights and responsibilities are transferred to the adoptive parents. They will take on your surname and become a legal member of your family for life, just like a biological child.

If you're hoping to adopt a younger child, please be aware that there are very few healthy babies placed for adoption, so we would urge you to consider adopting a child up to four years of age.

Fostering for adoption and concurrent planning provide alternative ways of welcoming a younger child into your life, with the possibility of formal adoption at a later stage.

When you first decide to adopt, you begin a journey to discover if it’s the right choice for you and what kind of parent you might be.

On average, the adoption process takes less than eight months with Together for Adoption. However, every application to adopt is treated individually.
