We want to help adults in Warrington live as independently as possible. Sometimes, this means helping people get to the care and support services they need.
Our transport policy explains who can get help with transport, what support is available, and how decisions are made.
Who the policy is for
This policy applies to Warrington residents aged 18 and over who have eligible needs under the Care Act 2014 and require support from adult social care services.
Transport is not provided as a service on its own. It’s a way to help people access the care, support, or activities they need, such as day services, training, or respite care.
How we assess transport needs
Transport needs are considered as part of your care and support assessment or review. This includes:
- How far you need to travel
- What transport options you already have
- Whether you could travel independently with training or support
- We’ll also look at whether a family member or friend could help with transport
