The development management committee (DMC) is made up of elected members and is responsible for making decisions on the bigger and more sensitive planning applications that are received. It usually meets publicly every month, when councillors must consider all the issues raised and make a decision.

This protocol is intended as guidance and a statement of good practice. It is intended principally to advise officers, councillors and members of the public on the processes and administration of the decisions associated with the development management committee (DMC)

The applications that are decided are identified in the council’s constitution with the relevant information starting on page 63 . All other applications are determined by officers
