Batteries out of charge?

The council is reminding residents to dispose of their batteries responsibly after a recent fire in a bin lorry thought to be caused by a battery in Great Sankey.

Fortunately due to the fast actions of the crew and Cheshire Fire and Rescue it was dealt with before the fire got out of control and nobody was injured in this incident.

This is not the first time this has happened and we are urging residents to make sure they dispose of batteries correctly. Never put batteries or electrical devices containing batteries in your bin. Batteries should be removed from devices (where safe to do so) and recycled at one of the many collection points around the borough, you can find their nearest collection point by visiting Take Charge – Recycle your batteries
