Walton Hall and Gardens will be celebrating and honouring the passing of Dame Olivia Newton-John by showing a special outdoor cinema screening of Grease, with all profits from ticket sales going to St Rocco’s Hospice.

The 1970s hit will be shown on Friday 30 September, following two successful screenings of Rocketman and Pulp Fiction earlier this year.

Experience the friendships, romances and adventures of a group of American high school kids in the 1950s. We’ll join teen lovebirds-turned-classmates, Sandy and Danny, as they juggle new friendships and feelings in this iconic musical.

Immerse yourself in the story where a wholesome exchange student Sandy (Dame Olivia Newton-John) and a leather-clad Danny (John Travolta) return to Rydell High following a summer romance, but will it go the distance?

Sit back and sing-along as this is sure to be a fun-filled evening! Dress up in your favourite pink ladies look or T-birds inspired leathers if you wish to and enjoy a night under the stars.

You can also treat yourself and go VIP for the evening, where we’ll provide the deck chairs in a prime location.

If that’s not you… go standard! Simply bring something to sit on, claim your own spot on the lawn and settle in. Children’s tickets are available too – but once they’re gone… they’re gone!

Food and drink will also be available to buy on the night.

St Rocco’s Hospice is a Warrington-based charity that provides free care for people with life-limiting illnesses.

All profits from ticket sales will go towards a range of uses at St Rocco’s, including nursing costs, providing delicious food for patients, providing counselling to help bereaved families through difficult times or providing a course of relaxing and calming therapy.

Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a night of cinema under the stars within the beautiful grounds of Walton Hall and Gardens, all whilst helping a local Warrington charity.

“This outdoor cinema showing of Grease is the perfect way for us to pay tribute to Olivia Newton-John, who was such an icon but also a huge supporter of cancer awareness and research charities. For this reason, it is fitting that all profits from ticket sales, in tribute to the Grease star goes to St Rocco’s, who provide so much support for patients and local people on a daily basis.

“I can’t wait to see more families coming to Walton again for a fantastic evening watching one of the 70’s classics and knowing that all profits are going to such a fantastic and worthwhile cause."
