'Having your Say’
As a care-experienced person you have the right to have your say about your experiences. This is for everyone, no matter how young they might be, and we want to hear from you. The Council specifically wants to know how it can do better, and so sharing your story and opinions you can make a huge difference. Our participation worker Jordan Clarke ensures our care experienced young people have a forum to share their views and contribute to the development of our service for young people. He can be contacted via email jordan.clarke@warrington.gov.uk
Advocacy
We work with a charity called the National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS), to give you help if you need it.
You can check what services you are entitled to and find out lots more on the NYAS website.
Living well hub
Our living well hub is available to all care-experienced young people on a Thursday between 2pm and 5pm. The hub offers an open door drop in where you can access a personal advisor and other support including career support, access to Department for Working Pensions and housing support. There are different events taking place at the Hub and we distribute a newsletter to all care experienced young people highlighting what is happening.
Pizza nights
Every half term we have a pizza night at the Hub for under 18’s which is an opportunity to meet the Personal Advisors and other care experienced young people whilst having a bite to eat.
Activity events
Throughout the year we hold events to bring our care experienced young people together for a day of fun and activity. This includes a summer day event and evening activities. We welcome your ideas about activities we can offer!
Interviews for council employees
When we hire someone for a job working with young people it’s important that we know they’re good with young people. To help with this we have a ‘young person’s panel’ as part of our interviews, and you can get involved with these if you’re interested. Speak with your PA or Social Worker for more information.
