UPDATE 4 April 2025
There will be no closure of the A56 Higher Lane tonight (4 April) and Monday night (7 April) due to a clash with a closure of the A556 by National Highways (https://nationalhighways.co.uk/travel-updates/road-closure-report/).
Works may still take place on site on both nights with side road closures and/or temporary traffic signals as needed.

From Monday 24 March road resurfacing works will take place to A56 Higher Lane, from the junction at Burford Lane/High Legh Road to the Borough Boundary, and B5159 High Legh Road, from the junction at Burford Lane/Higher Lane to the change of speed limit signs.
Works are currently programmed to take up to 6 weeks with road closures, starting with Higher Lane and its side roads, between 7:00pm to 1:00am Monday to Friday nights (Saturday morning). there are no planned works at weekends or on the bank holidays.
All roads will be reopened to traffic outside these times.
The signed diversion routes will be as follows:
A56 Higher Lane via B5159 High Legh Road, B5159 West Lane, A50 Warrington Road, A556 (north), A56 Lymm Road, A56 Agden Brow or via A56 Agden Brow, A56 Lymm Road, A556 (south) A5034 Chester Road, A50 Warrington Road, B5159 West Lane, B5159 High Legh Road;
High Legh Road via B5159 West Lane, A50 Warrington Road, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, A56 Stockport Road, A56 Camsley Lane, A56 Booths Hill Road, A56 Higher Lane and vice versa.
There will be no works on Tuesday 22 April due to Cheshire East Council undertaking works with a road closure on the A50.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and vehicular access will be under the control of the Principal Contractor.
The Principal Contractor for this scheme is Tarmac Trading Ltd.
Information on changes to bus services and any diversions will be posted at stops prior to the start of the works.
Cones, barriers and signs are there for a reason - to protect our workers from danger and to keep the public safe. We urge drivers to pay close attention to safety when driving near roadworks.
