Update 9 September 2024
The current phase of Warrington Road will be substantially completed tonight, meaning that ALL residential and business traffic will need to come in and out at night via the East Lanc's Road from tomorrow (Tuesday 10 September) until the completion of the phase between Holcroft Lane and Churchill Avenue.
On the night of 17 September contractors will be working to recut traffic detector loops in the road surface between Fowley Common Lane and The Raven Inn. The contractors will work on one side of the road at a so that traffic will still be able to get through.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these ongoing works.

Update 20 August 2024
Unfortunately, the contractors have made an error and started Phase 2 first instead of Phase 1.
Having spoken to them this morning they apologised for this and rather than jumping back and forth will continue with the section that was Phase 2 first, before moving on to the section that should have been Phase 1.
The access to the Mee Brow Estate will now be from the Culcheth direction for the first 4 to 5 weeks, with the road closed from Raven bridge to East of Eden Avenue, and then be from the East Lancs Road side for the remainder for the scheme.
Anyone wanting access to the Raven Pub should approach from the East Lancs Road end/direction, and will need to leave that way too, for the whole of the scheme.
The confusion may have come about as what is/was Phase 2 was originally the only scheme programmed for Warrington Road this year, which the contractor has known about for some time as it has been on our long-term highway maintenance programme for over 2 years. The section/scheme from west of Churchill Avenue to Holcroft Lane has only been made possible thanks to HS2/Network North Funding that only came available in January this year.
We are apologise for the confusion last night’s works have caused.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From Monday 19 August 2024 works will be taking place to resurface two sections of A574 Warrington Road, Culcheth, from the junction at Holcroft Lane to the Raven Bridge (adjacent to Hey Shoot Lane).
The road and its side roads will be closed, in phases, between 7:00pm and 1:00am for up to 8 weeks to undertake the works safely.
All roads will be fully open to traffic outside these times.
Phase 1 will be the section from Holcroft Lane to west of Churchill Avenue for 2 to 3 weeks, and Phase 2 will be the section from west of Eden Avenue to the Raven Bridge for 4 to 5 weeks.
Vehicular access will be under the control of the Contractor on site.
Vehicles parked on the road, verge or footway obstructing the works may be removed.
The signed diversion route will be via A580 East Lancs Road, Newton Road, Kenyon Lane, Wilton Lane, Broseley Lane, Common Lane and vice versa.
Information on bus diversions will be posted at stops ahead of the start of the scheme.
Residents/businesses needing access to closed sections of road should speak to the contractor as they will provide as much access as is safe to do so, however there will be times, for example when the road surface is being removed or relaid when there may be no access for several hours.
Cones, barriers and signs are there for a reason - to protect our workers from danger and to keep the public safe. We urge drivers to pay close attention to safety when driving near roadworks.
