Works will soon be starting to carry out full width resurfacing, patching, haunch strengthening, replacement of defective ironwork (gully gratings, chamber covers etc.) and utility trench repairs along Cherry Lane between Booth’s Lane and Cherry Corner.
Works are currently programmed to take up to 6 weeks with road closures between 09:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday there are no planned works at weekends.
All roads will be reopened to traffic outside these times.
The signed diversion route will be as follows: Elm Tree Road, A56 Booth’s Hill Road, A56 Camsley Lane, A56 Stockport Road, A50 Knutsford Road, A50 Cliff Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and vehicular access will be under the control of the Principal Contractor.
Residents, and others, wanting access must speak to the contractors on site as soon as they can as they will be able to advise when access will be allowed (ie. when safe to do so) and when not, and from what direction, e.g. if the contractors are working towards the Booth’s Lane end, then access would be from the Cherry Corner end and vice versa.
The works are mobile and will be back and forth along the scheme, so access at the start of the shift might be different to the end of the shift.
Generally, access is most restricted at certain times too. For example, where full width resurfacing is taking place when the road surface is being removed (planing), then access may be restricted for 10s of minutes, however when the road surface is being replaced access is restricted for several hours as you cannot drive on the hot surface until it has cooled sufficiently.
The Principal Contractor for this scheme is Tarmac Trading Ltd.
Cones, barriers and signs are there for a reason - to protect our workers from danger and to keep the public safe. We urge drivers to pay close attention to safety when driving near roadworks.
