You may need to contact the council and use services differently as part of our response to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please visit our Coronavirus in Warrington pages to find out which services are affected.
Equipment and adaptions
Staying independent is the best way to stay healthy whether you have care needs, a disability or need support into older age. Most people prefer to stay in their own home and with access to local services, adaptations and extra help, this is often possible.
Equipment, home adaptations and technology is available that can help make looking after yourself, or someone you care about, easier and safer.
The council’s personal alarm service, Carecall, can help you to live independently at home. It ensures people can get help as quickly as possible in case of an emergency. By pressing a button (worn as a pendant or on your wrist) you can trigger an alarm that will contact the Carecall control centre 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Carecall alarms cost as little as £3.50 per week. You can contact Carecall directly to request an alarm by email email@example.com or call us on 01925 458000
Telecare is a range of equipment and services that support your safety and independence in your own home. The equipment can sense risks such as smoke, floods and gas leaks, can remind you to take pills and even call for help if you fall. You can view a range of telecare equipment by taking a tour of the Smart Flat which showcases a range of innovative technology to support you.
The Warrington Home Improvement Agency (WHiA) may be able to arrange for simple adaptations to be made to your home (such as grab rails for the bath or stair rails) for a small charge, without you needing an assessment from us. Call 01925 246812 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other equipment suppliers
A lot of equipment is widely available both on the high street and online (e.g. Amazon, Argos, B&Q or local chemist shops) or in specialist shops (e.g. Miller Care).
The Centre for Independent Living (CIL) in Warrington also provides advice and supplies equipment that you can try before buying., and you can take a tour of the Smart Flat which showcases a range of innovative technology to support you.
If you need more information, our community directory, My Life Warrington, lists a number of local services and suppliers of equipment and technology options.
