At PAPYRUS, we believe in helping to prevent young suicide and that no young person should have to struggle alone with thoughts of suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of people under the age of 35 in the UK and we work towards our three key principles to make a difference; Support, Equip and Influence.

We provide confidential support directly to people under the age of 35 who are experiencing thoughts of suicide through our helpline services HOPELINE UK 0800 068 4141. Our suicide prevention advisers provide direct support via phone call, text, email and webchat to help people stay safe from suicide. We also support those who are concerned about a young person by providing advice directly to them through our helpline services. We understand that supporting a young person with thoughts of suicide can be overwhelming and so we also provide a debrief service to those who need to talk about supporting someone.

We work with volunteers to engage and equip communities to become suicide safer. This is often done through our training projects SP-ARK, SP-OT, SP-EAK and ASIST that help to equip as many people as possible with the knowledge of suicide prevention skills. We ensure that the training we provide is delivered safely, with support in place for those undergoing the training as we understand that suicide can be a difficult topic.

We work to influence national social policy and contribute to the implementation of national suicide prevention strategies wherever possible. We campaign for those in power to make changes that can help save young lives. We are passionate about making nationwide changes, fuelled by those that have been touched personally by young suicide.
