Get walking

Walking is a great way to improve your health, fitness, wellbeing, sleep patterns and energy levels. Walking can also help you reach the NHS recommended 10,000 steps a day, which can significantly improve your health, improve your knowledge of the local area and reduce stress.

There are lots of walking and running routes available close to Omega, shown on the council’s cycling map

Visit our cycling page

Omega is within walking distance of retail, education, workplaces, health and leisure destinations, and local neighbourhoods.

On your bike!

Cycling is a quick, cheap and fun way of getting to and from Omega

Cycling is one of the easiest ways to fit exercise into your daily routine, and helps improve your fitness and health. If you’ve not been on a bike for a while, we can help you get back into the saddle.

Discover local routes

Lots of cycling-related information and routes can be found on the  council’s cycle map which is available on our website

Free cycle training

We can arrange free cycle training to help you build your confidence. This is delivered on a one-to-one or small group basis, and can be tailored to meet your specific needs. The courses are arranged at a time to suit you. More information is available at warrington.gov.uk/cycle-training.

Dr Bike

The council are planning some Dr Bike (bike maintenance) events at  Omega. The events will allow our mechanics to service your bike free of charge, checking the condition, undertaking work to improve  the basic safety of your bike and providing advice relating to future  improvements and work on your bike. The events will be promoted so keep an eye out for further information about them.

Help purchasing a bike

As a resident of Omega, we are offering you a £50 voucher towards the purchase of a bike or cycling accessories at Halfords.  You can apply for one of either a cycle, bus or car club voucher per household. To apply for the voucher, please email travelwarrington@warrington.gov.uk

Some employers offer a Cycle2Work scheme, which allows you to purchase bikes tax free and pay for the bike monthly through a salary sacrifice scheme. Contact your company’s human resource department to find out if your company offers this scheme and to find out more information.

Parking and locker facilities

Cycle parking spaces are available at the retail units adjacent to the Whittle Avenue/Westbrook Way roundabout, which are for use by customers and staff.

Bus

The nearest bus stop to the site is on Lingley Green Avenue, which is served by bus service 13. However, a bus only road through the centre of the Omega site will open soon, and regular buses will operate along it. The bus network map shows the locations you can access by bus.

Car Sharing

If you’re travelling from further away, why not consider reducing your travel costs by sharing your lift? It will save you money, saves you the hassle of finding a car parking space when you arrive, and allows you to meet new friends.

Liftshare provide a car sharing service liftshare.com/uk which enables you to search for others making a similar journey and arrange to share your journey. Registering and searching for partners is free of charge and won’t impact on your car insurance. You don’t have to reciprocate the journey, instead a mileage cost can be charged to cover the costs of the additional passenger.

Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicle charging facilities are available at the following locations:

  • Burtonwood Services (M62 J8)
