The role

Warrington Borough Council (WBC) are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced teacher to work with children and young people (0-25 years) with hearing loss across the borough. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sensory Support Team which includes teachers of the visually impaired and teachers of the D/deaf, providing a peripatetic service to children and young people across a range of settings within the Warrington Local Authority.

About you 

Candidates will be passionate about teaching D/deaf children and young people across the age range (0-25), however you may have more experience in one particular age group.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A qualification as a Teacher of the Deaf (PGDip Deaf Education);
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, working in partnership with parents and other professionals;
  • The ability to manage a caseload of children and young people with hearing loss;
  • To have experience in working with children and young people who have hearing loss;
  • Undertaking assessments, develop and deliver tailored schemes of work to support progress for D/deaf children and young people;
  • Some involvement with additional complex learning, physical, communication, social and emotional needs;
  • The ability to communicate information clearly and compassionately;
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development;
  • An awareness of recent changes to SEND legislation;
  • Excellent inter-personal and organisational skills;
  • Proficiency in oral and written English.
