Youth Justice Service - Youth Offending Service Officer
The role
Cheshire Youth Justice Service are a high performing, nationally recognised and award winning Youth Justice Service and are seeking to recruit a motivated Youth Offending Team Officer to join our very friendly multi-disciplinary team on a permanent basis. You will manage a demanding case load of young people, completing their assessments, writing reports and undertaking interventions to address their offending behaviour. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for the public and the young person themselves. You will also take your place on a duty rota and referral order panel rota, as required and will be required to work flexibly. The post is categorised as Hybrid post which means practitioners are able to work from a number of office locations and from home at times.
About you
Experience of working with young people who have complex risk and needs and can be difficult to connect with is essential, as is the knowledge and understanding of the factors that put young people at risk of offending. Alongside this a good knowledge of the Youth Justice System is desirable.
Risk management, public safety and safeguarding are fundamental to our work and candidates need to be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of these requirements as they are integral to the post being offered.
The nature of this work can be very challenging you will therefore need to be a confident and resilient practitioner. You must have experience of working with young people and have a commitment to helping them make positive changes in their lives.
You should have the enthusiasm and dedication to work towards provision of high quality assessments and interventions for young people and the ability to multi- task in a rapidly changing and ever demanding environment.
You must have the ability to effectively work alongside partner agencies, and to engage parents/carers and young people utilising a relationship based practice model, alongside excellent communication skills and IT skills.
A qualification in either social work, probation (equivalent qualification) or a Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (or the commitment to complete this) combined with a relevant degree is essential.
