I strongly oppose the plans to develop Green Field sites to the south of Warrington - a view shared by the majority of council tax payers and residents here in Appleton. This reckless proposal will stretch infrastructure and traffic beyond breaking point. Schools and healthcare are already over subscribed. Traffic levels are barely manageable at peak times, whilst off peak, so many cars are parked upon the pavement that they have become unusable- think wheelchairs, pushchairs etc. Take a drive around the new housing developments in Stretton - the pavements have become car parks. Too many houses in too small a space already, and you propose to make things worse- it?s moronic. Use the Brown Field sites. They are connected to the Town Centre. These Green Field proposals will cause yet more private transport, whereas the Brown Field sites are served by public transport. Your policies are not green at all. They add to pollution and the climate emergency- it cannot be defended nor denied. I ask myself why you are choosing these sites and I conclude that you are so keen to say that this council is building new homes that you will do anything to appease the developers. It seems obvious that it is easier and cheaper for them to destroy the countryside forever than to clear and develop Brown Fields. These proposals rely entirely in road traffic to serve them. This is not consistent with the UK?s climate change policies.
Don?t be a bunch of hypocrites. Rethink the plan. Leave the green fields for the next generation and do you know you should do - develop the Extensive and well connected brown field sites.
