I have just been reading the revised local plan and thinking about the consequences for my local area of Thelwall / Grappenhall with the Thelwall Heys proposal. My main issue is access requirements of such a large number of residences in such a small area . This is an area where communication is already "hampered" by Manchester ship Canal, Bridgewater Canal for instance and , whenever anything untoward happens on any of the motorways the issue becomes apparent very quickly.
The estates around here where largely built in the 1960s where planning was presumably done on the basis of having green field sites between estates . I go cycling quite a lot around Birchwood where more modern large housing areas were designed with easy cycle routes and green corridors . In the absence of such 1990s style planning in Thelwall Heys the existing few roads will not cater for the increase in congestion and obviously this will lead to lowered quality of life for all current and future residents. I support the local Liberal Democrat opposition to the proposed Thelwall Heys development.
