Funded childcare places
The fashion and textile children’s trust offer low income families working in the fashion industry, a grant to support the purchase of school uniforms (for children up to the age of 18).
If you are a grandparent who looks after your grandchild, whilst their parents work and your grandchild is under 12 years of age, then you can get national insurance (NI) credit that is attached to child benefit, transferred to you.
You could get a one-off payment of £500 to help towards the costs of having a child. This is known as a sure start maternity grant. You usually qualify for the grant if both of the following apply:
