The role

The Council holds a significant and diverse property portfolio, with assets spanning across the Borough. The Property & Estates team is responsible for undertaking an efficient and effective estate management service, providing support and professional property advice to the wider departments and key stakeholders.

The Team is looking to recruit a Senior Estates & Valuation Manager to work on all aspects of the estate management and the development of the Council's property portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Estates & Valuation, you will advise on a wide range of asset management and estate matters, whilst ensuring the best interests for the Council in terms of value and performance.

This is an excellent opportunity to help determine and deliver the best use of Council assets and the delivery of public sector services to support ongoing change within the Borough and the needs of the local and wider community.

You will have demonstrable experience in dealing with property, asset management and valuation matters.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Day-day estate management of a commercial property portfolio
  • Advise as required on the management of the Council's Operational estate working closely with client departments and third party operators/stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of the Council's Property Strategies to ensure the effective and efficient management of the Council's property portfolio, including undertaking property portfolio reviews to meet strategic objectives
  • Negotiation on rent reviews, lease renewals and licence terms
  • Undertaking acquisitions and disposals
  • Preparing asset valuations
  • Maintaining and updating an accurate and complete property records database
  • Liaison with and instructing third parties, such as property agents, surveyors and solicitors
  • Working closely with the Head of Estates & Valuation and the wider Estates team to ensure key objectives are met

What you'll need to succeed 

  • MRICS qualified
  • A relevant degree in property/real estate
  • Significant and proven experience in property asset management
  • Proficient in undertaking lease renewals and rent reviews
  • Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation
  • Experience of working within local government is desirable
