Evidence base - Natural environment and climate change
Landscape Character Assessment
The Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) forms part of the evidence base for the preparation of Local Plans.
Most importantly it provides ‘snapshot in time’ on the status of the existing landscape, recording the existing and potential threats to the landscape in the future.
The Climate Change Strategy was the first step in our mission to embed carbon reduction across the council. The strategy identifies the greenhouse gas emissions of both our own activities and those of the wider community and outlines a series of actions for achieving these reductions.
We commissioned Arup to undertake this report in July 2009. It was a two stage project undertaken in collaboration with the Merseyside authorities, Halton Borough Council and West Lancashire District Council to help inform the development of the Local Planning Framework.
The first stage of the project provides a broad overview of the current policy context, technologies and potential for renewable energy in the sub-region. Whilst the second stage undertook a more specific investigation of the spatial opportunities, constraints and policy options for renewable energy across the sub-region.
The primary purpose of the study is to provide a sound evidence base from which to develop our renewable energy policies.
The capacity study documents are too large to display here so please contact us to obtain copies on a CD.
