School meals

Warrington Borough Council School Catering Service, being the  North West regional winner of the School Chef of the Year 2017 and the runner up for the national final, pride ourselves on providing your child with a healthy, filling and nutritious meal every school day. We provide meals to all Warrington primary and special schools.

Paying for school meals

Meals are £2.30 per day, however all children in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to a free school lunch.

The majority of Warrington Schools accept payments via the cashless catering provider. ParentPay’s payment service. Your school will issue an activation letter to enable you to create an account to pay for your child’s meals. This will allow you to top up your child's account in advance.

The following schools do not use the cashless system and accept cash/cheque:

Christ Church CE, Brook Acre CP, St Bridget’s Catholic Primary, New Horizon and Woolston Brook

Add money to your child's cashless catering account and check their balance online

Meal quality and menus

We work closely with The Soil Association and have maintained our Food For Life Served Here Bronze Catering Mark for 3 consecutive years. This provides an independent verification that food is fresh, sustainable and from traceable sources.

Over 75% of the dishes on our new menu are freshly prepared daily using fresh, sustainable ingredients [pdf] which are free from harmful additives, meat and meat products are Red Tractor/Farm Assured, Fish is MCS certified and only free range eggs are used in our dishes. This is good news for animal welfare!

Fresh food that meets nutritional guidelines in schools can lead to better concentration and performance in the classroom, as well as positively influencing eating habits in later life.

We cater for vegetarian, multi-cultural and other special dietary needs. Please contact us with any specific concerns or requests.

We hope your child will enjoy our current menu and we thank you again for your support.

Standards of hygiene

All schools in Warrington are inspected by food safety officers on a regular basis. For more information on the inspection process, the food hygiene rating scheme and the standards in our schools, download the standards of hygiene, premises and management [pdf]
